NYC Pt.1 Hotel Lounging

The last time I was in NYC I was taking ballet class at 890 Broadway in the ABT Summer Intensive Program. For 3 consecutive years part of my summer break consisted of sharing a dorm room with 3 other bunheads [ who I remember fondly ] like me with a full schedule of dance classes from 9am-6pm Monday to Friday [Saturdays until 12pm]. That left very little time or energy to really enjoy the city.

This time I got to experience the city with my parents and hubby Matt.  Our first full day we visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art where we spent the majority of our time viewing European paintings from the period from 1230 to 1900, in Italy, France, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, and Britain. I finally saw Vermeer, the artist on whom the Girl With The Peal Earring novel and movie was based on. Then we visited the statuary where the gorgeous Greek and Roman Art marbles, limestone [etc..] statues were illuminated by natural light pouring in from giant atrium. It was probably the most beautiful wing in the museum with marble floors, columns, to enhance  the collection from the small, engraved gemstones to the over-lifesize statues.

Here I am wearing these beautiful lace pieces I picked up from Flora+Mia fashion with cut-off jeans. The weather was a little chillier than I expected so this long cardigan was a great for hotel room lounging in between our excursions.
