SXSW is next week and when it comes to music festival style, there are no rules. However there are some handy tips that can make the day, or days, a little more comfortable. My first tip would be to dress in layers, if you want to wear something a bit more revealing [crochet crop top?] throw a cool shirt on you can easily take off and either tie around your waist or stuff in your bag. Which brings me to your bag, I’d suggest a cute tapestry or leather backpack. Pack the essentials, water, SPF, ID, cash and a phone charger but don’t overload it. Shoes: depending on what you plans are on and the weather, flat boots if you’re going to be walking a lot. If you’re staying put a while you might be able to get away with comfortable platforms or heeled boots, but I’d suggest packing some flats in that backpack anyways.

I’m really digging this 90s revival right now for a music setting, to channel that I’m wearing a scuba black dress that looks awesome on and goes well with the other patterns I brought in with my two layers. The plaid shirt from Lucky Brand is my favorite flannel of all time! It’s thin and super soft as opposed to the heavy, bulky ones out there. It looks great on and tied around the waist too. I scored this vintage [it’s more 80s than 90s shhhhh] southwestern print jacket and it’s kinda perfect for the artsy music scene. Suede with a cool fringe that spans across the back of the jacket and down the sleeves give it a great music festival vibe and it will keep me warm if the weather is still cold. The black open toed booties are more for going out at night, not spending a whole day walking around in them! For a comfy day look I would wear flat, ankle boots. Finally, the tattoo chocker in white and black are the finishing touches on this 90s inspired look.
