This Summer I was approached with an opportunity that would launch any girl over the moon; I had the chance to design my dream shoe!
In partnership with Houston based fine Italian leather shoe brand Alice d’ Italia, we created this beautiful flat, and I AM OBSESSED. It’s a beautiful soft white leather with camel color spots. I chose to design a flat because in the past I have a hard time finding flat shoes I love and would buy over a heel. I’m really proud of this design and feel I was able to express my taste and style with this project.
Headed by husband and wife team, Kelly Steven Finn and Tracy Lalasz Finn, Alice d’Italia is a conscious luxury shoe brand. All the shoes are handmade in Marche, Italy. A unique design component to Alice d’Italia’s shoes is that every shoe comes with strap options so you can wear your shoe in many different ways, but more on that in my next blog post.

Alice d’ Italia Custom Shoe Process:
Shape and swatches. The first thing I did was pour through their catalogs of swatches to try and draw inspiration. The selection is remarkable, you’re selecting from top Italian leathers of the season.
I decided on Spotty Cammello, a soft white leather with suede spots from a Spring 2019 line.
The Sketch. I love the pointy toe flat and thought a white toe would be a chic addition.

Heels: So many options! We could have gone no heel, round heel or larger heel, kitten heel. I find a small lift to be more comfortable than a flat sole. We selected the larger size pictured on the left.
Making the shoes by hand:
The fabric is from the Italian Spring 2019 leather collection. I love the spotted look! And it comes in other beautiful colors as well!
During the process, Alice d’ Italia also kindly gifted me their classic heel in my color of choice! I thought this warm, rich leather was absolutely stunning. All the shoes come with different straps which I will be sharing ways style the shoes tomorrow!
