Heavenly Bodies and the Catholic Imagination at the MET

My trip to New York this weekend was amazing! I was visiting my blogger BFF, Tiffany from FlautandCenter, who made the move up to the Big Apple last month, to say I miss her is an understatement but I’m so happy for her move and all the possibilities she has to grow even more up there! We had a great time catching up and running around lower Manhattan.

The main must-see on my list this trip was the Heavenly Bodies and the Catholic Imagination Exhibit at the MET. Growing up Catholic has inspired my appreciation art and history.

The exhibit is divided into two sections: (1) the papal robes and accessories from the Sistine Chapel sacristy, many of which have never been seen outside The Vatican. The opulence is on another level. You aren’t allowed to take pictures in this section, similar to when I viewed the crown jewels in London. (2) Fashions from the early twentieth century to the present displayed in Byzantine and medieval galleries. This exhibit showcased couture and runway pieces from different fashion houses, who drew inspiration from Catholicism.
