Marriott Marquis Houston: Parkview Terrace Summer Experience

Marriott Marquis Houston Hotel Stay: Parkview Terrace Summer Experience

Two weekends ago Matt and I did a little stay-cation at the Marriott Marquis Houston. We were given a complimentary stay however all opinions are my own.

Located in downtown Marriott Marquis Houston has a lot to offer. Connected by skywalk to the George R. Brown Convention Center it’s a prime destination for the traveling corporate world. The rooftop pool, boosting a scenic infinity pool and the world’s largest Texas-shaped rooftop lazy river, is a major draw during the hot summer months. I hear many locals and suburban families book the hotel for a weekend staycations.

Matt and I checked in late morning so we could spend the afternoon poolside at the Parkview Terrace. The Terrace had the most beautiful views of downtown! The Marriott set us up with a Cabana for the afternoon and some selections from their deck restaurant High Dive. The Cabana was so necessary to shield us from the sun as we spent the whole afternoon lounging, munching on nachos and sipping on Pinã Coladas.

The Parkview Terrace is where you can find the Texas Summer Music Series with live music by emerging local artists. Such a great way to enjoy the sunset over Houston by poolside every Friday and Saturday from May 24 – July 20 from 6-8pm.

We left the pool late afternoon to get ready for a night out downtown.

Back in our room, we found a charcuterie board and a bottle of champagne welcoming us. Still full from the nachos we did our best with champagne and delicious snacks. One this is for sure, you won’t ever be in want of food here with myriad restaurant options, including Biggio’s Sports Bar, Walker Street Kitchen and Cueva Wine Bar.

Matt and I hadn’t been out at night in downtown Houston in a long while so we took this opportunity to meet up with a friend and check out the latest spots. Since we were running a bit late we grabbed a bite at the Marquis Tapas lounge Cueva.

We hit up a few spots downtown our friend recommend including “High and Dry” and “Live Bar”. Had a blast at both places and the music was sooooooo fun, however, Matt and I aren’t the night owl types, anymore. We headed back to the Marquis quite early for the nightlife crowd. We laughed as we walked in the hotel seeing people heading out for the night, as we were calling it at midnight.

We ordered room service pizza and it was so delicious, I still think about it.

The following morning we were up pretty early. Before checking out we sat down for a lovely breakfast with a view at the M Club. The M Club is one of the elite amenities that are available to guests that upgrade to rooms with M Club access offering privacy, complimentary snacks and well-connected spaces for work and relaxation.
